Oh Lord, listen to me — even when the whip lashes tore his skin, he sang the hymns of Hari in bliss.
The serpents we threw on him turned into garlands, shockingly.
When we dumped him into the ocean, he walked out as if strolling through a beautiful garden.
Don’t be misled by his age, my Lord — Sri Hari is protecting this boy every single time.

No matter how much I beat you, you don’t seem to feel any pain.
No matter how many times I tell you, you refuse to stop praising Sri Hari.
Enough of these games now!
Can you show me — is He really in this pillar standing before me?
asked Hiranyakashipu to Prahlada.

The one who governs birth and death is the bearer of the discus.
The one with a pure heart who balances sin and virtue.
The eternal witness who guides this universe.
Why ask where He is? The Father resides in all directions.

Let my enemy come in front of me — that Hari.
I know He will come to protect you.
I will take my revenge.
Does your Hari have the courage to defeat me?
He struck the pillar as he said this.

With a thunderous crack, the pillar split open like the morning sun’s rays.
Emerging fiercely, Vishnu came forth as Hiranyakashipu’s enemy.
Majestic, roaring with the speed of the wind,
He shattered the demon’s pride —
And with ferocious claws, tore open his chest and drank his blood — the fierce Narasimha!
